Grilling is on the minds of many as we near the official start of summer on June 21. While there are plenty of people who use gas grills, lump charcoal continues to be a perennially popular heat source.

In this video, Royal Oak Charcoal’s Evan Bryant walks viewers through the company’s production process for hardwood lump charcoal at its Ellsinore, MO facility. The segment starts with a tour of the location’s kilns that carbonize American lumber.  

Next, viewers see a line where non-desirable materials like rocks and metal are removed from the wood. Bryant points out that each side of the line features magnets to capture any metal that was not separated.
